Car Review: 2013 Range Rover Sport
Since the dawn of time, the Range Rover has been Britain's answer to the Jeep. It's hard to tell which one is better. If you ask anyone, they would probably say Jeep because it's better off road, it's built better, and it has a bigger following. I doubt you'll find anyone having large off-roading or Go Topless Day events for Range Rover, mostly because it's top can't come off and because Jeeps are better off road.
Inside is a very luxurious interior. There is hand stitched leather all over the dash and even though this car is big, it doesn't feel big when you drive it. There are many different driving settings for going off road. There's a setting for sand, snow, mud, and rocks. You also get plenty of space to store whatever sports equipment you have as well as anything for doing long road trips.
The one thing that makes this car better than a Jeep is the way it drives, it is incredibly comfortable and it's very smooth and stable. The one problem is it still feels like it wants to roll over every time you turn a corner. It even brakes better.
I don't think this will be any good off road though. The car is much lower to the ground than a Jeep, so you will worry about scratching the body and breaking something that is incredibly expensive to fix. Also, while Jeeps can be beaten on and keep going, the Range Rover has a tendency to get stuck and stop working. It does have good towing capacity though. The car can tow over 7700 lbs. of anything you need towing.
So on the road, the Range Rover is better. It's faster, brakes better, and is a much more comfortable ride. But if I want to go off road and have some fun, I would prefer a Jeep.
Special thanks to Land Rover in Sudbury, MA for test vehicle.
