My Personal Top 5 Favorite Cars

4 minute read
The automobile has been around since the late 1800's. Over the years, it has gotten safer, more reliable, and much more fuel efficient. To most people, cars are just tools used to get from one place to another. Very few people buy cars because of the way it drives and makes them feel. They just want a car that's reliable, comfortable, and fuel efficient.

I've never bought a car for it's reliability or it's fuel efficiency. I buy cars because of how they make me feel when I see them and when I drive them. Every car I've ever bought was always over 20 years old and from either a company that doesn't exist anymore or the model isn't made anymore. Not only did my cars stand out, but they has much more personality than the modern cars made today.

So if I were to have five cars to put in my garage, they would be cars that make me feel excited and want to drive absolutely nowhere in them. Here are the five cars I would choose.

Porsche 911 Carrera S - The Porsche 911 has been around for 50 years, but I would pick the current model. Yes, it is easier to drive than the original, but it's also much faster. It does come with an automatic transmission, but it shifts quicker than it takes to blink an eye. It is one of the best handling cars I've driven, but it still has the ability to get angry with you if you don't know how to drive it.

Jaguar F-Type - Most cars can't bring the feeling of driving a 60's roadster back, but the F-Type comes pretty close. From the way it drives to the sputtering of the engine, this has so much personality that you just smile when you drive it. This isn't a car to run errands in, this is a car to go have fun in.

Cadillac CTS-V - Normally, most Cadillac's aren't fun to drive. Most aren't even very fast. But the CTS-V is different. It can give the Audi R8 a run for it's money. The best part is that this car loves corners. Unlike other Cadillac's that quiver at the sight of a corner, this car can generate it's own g-forces that will leave your passengers feeling nauseous. Cadillac's used to be the standard of the world, and now they're starting to come back.

AMC Pacer - I know what you're thinking, why would I want a car that has been ranked one of the worst cars in the world? Yes, many of it's components didn't work well and it broke down more times than you can count. But, despite all the problems it had and even though it stopped working after about a year, it's still the one car that I always loved to drive. Once in a while when it did work, driving it was nothing you can imagine. It felt like it had a mind of it's own. Driving it was both fun and scary at the same time. You could steer it with just a finger and you always managed to draw attention to yourself. You could even outrun cars that thought they were faster than you. No matter what you think of this car, you were never bored when you drove it.
Ford Mustang GLX - The Ford Mustang has been an iconic car since the 60's. But when the 1980's rolled around, people called the Fox Body Mustangs the ugliest and worst Mustang since the Mustang II. Compared to some of today's cars, it's definitely not ugly. Compared to the modern Mustang's, it is much slower. It handles about the same as the modern Mustang, but it has much more character than the modern Mustang. While today's Mustang's try to be like the past, the GLX was something new and different. It was great for journeys with friends and it was a fun car to drive around in. It may have been badly built, but it lasted much longer than anyone could've imagined.

These are the cars I would pick for my garage. Most of them are not fuel efficient, some aren't even reliable. But I think that's what people are missing out on when they decide what car to get. They're more concerned with other things instead of how the car makes them feel. If they just went out for a drive with no particular destination, then they would get the true meaning of cars and driving.
