Jeep Wrangler Dragon Edition Makes its U.S. Debut

2 minute read

The dragon has been a symbol of strength and power in China for many centuries. It is usually seen around royalty and good fortune. Now, it has graced its presence along a special Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. First seen at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, this Special Edition Jeep Wrangler won praise by both the Chinese market and Jeep enthusiasts. Originally meant to be sold only in China, this Dragon Edition Wrangler has decided to swim over to the U.S.

When I first drove it around with Jeep salesperson Ricardo Duarte, it drove and felt like a regular Wrangler Sahara. Powered by the Pentastar V6, you get plenty of power to fly past other cars. You also get the typical Jeep handling that allows you to travel anywhere. Whether its going through wooded trails or gliding through streams, you have the capability to cross any type of tough terrain. You can even use it to go over steep grassy terrain if you accidently miss your exit.

Only when you look carefully do you see how special this Jeep really is. The first thing you notice is the giant bronze dragon that lines the all black side and goes all the way to the front. You also notice the bronze on black wheels and the bronze along the front grille and headlights. Inside, you also get bronze on black on the steering wheel and the gauges. Then there are the comfortable black leather seats that have a bronze dragon stitched on it. There is also the front grab bar which also has a dragon that flies along the entire bar.

For something that was originally meant for just the Chinese market, this is a rare treat. This is a Wrangler that can be enjoyed by both a Jeep lover as well as anyone interested in Chinese traditions. This limited Dragon Edition Wrangler can only be found at Allen Mello Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Nashua, NH.
Special thanks to Allen Mello Chrysler Jeep Dodge for test vehicle.
