Lotus Planning on Building Motorcycles

 

Last week, Lotus announced that it will be moving into the motorcycle business with it's first bike, the C-01, being the first hyper performance bike built by the company.

 

This may seem like a good idea, but very few car manufacturers have been able to get into the motorcycle business and really succeed. The new bike will have carbon and other strong steel components as well as Formula One technology. Even though it will have many advanced racing features, it's still something that needs a kickstand to stand on it's own.

 

Not only does Lotus have no knowledge or experience in the bike business, why would anyone want to venture into building something as dumb as a bike? No matter what type of wheels or traction control is added, turn too hard and the bike is going to roll due to it being unstable with only two wheels.

 

 

 

So instead of building something where you have to dress up like a Power Ranger just to ride it, Lotus should stick to it's car heritage and not embarrass itself with going into a new field.
