Engines Go Mini for the 2014 Mini Cooper

The Mini Cooper has always been the epitome of the small car. Everything in it was small and cute. Now, the engines are going small as well. For 2014, Mini will be introducing two new engines produced by BMW. The first engine will be a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder that produces 134-hp. The second engine will be a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder that produces 189-hp.

Chances are the four cylinder will be the better bet, but the 3 cylinder will have an over boost feature that bumps torque up to 170 lb-ft. Both engines will have twin turbo power that allows the tiny engines to achieve all it's power at short revs. You don't have to rev the engine to 8000 rpm, only under 2000.

These two new engines should improve fuel efficiency and still allow the cars to be fun around the city. Plus, besides saying how the exterior is so cute, you can look under the hood and see a cute little engine as well. The 2014 Mini Cooper will be on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November.
