Honda Introduces Two New Mobility Devices

 

For older people or people who have trouble moving around, Honda is looking at introducing two different devices that can help people with disabilities get around easier.

 

The first device is called the UNI-CUB. It is a device that acts like a Segway, with the riders weight allowing them to move and turn the device. It has a top speed of 3.7 mph and a battery range of just 3.7 miles. That seems like not enough range, but this model is mainly for use indoors and short distances.

 

The other device is called the Walking Assist Device. Unlike the UNI-CUB, this is not a Segway. This is a device that fits on a person's legs and helps anyone with disabilities from either a stroke or an injury to recover and walk on their own. The battery life on this device has a length of over 60 minutes. The Walking Assist Device is currently being used in the U.S. for people who have suffered a stroke. Both devices will be on display this week at the Tokyo Motor Show.
