The Lucra L148: America's Next Best Supercar

When it comes to supercars, the U.S. hasn't had very much luck making one that really stands out. The Cadillac CTS-V has supercar performance, but has too much practicality. Both the Corvette and the Viper have the looks and the speed, but the handling and build quality make them feel cheap. Now, a small car company in San Diego is looking at building a supercar that may rival the supercars of Europe.

Known as the L148 and built by a small company called Lucra, this supercar has the looks of both a Lotus and a Corvette. Since the entire carbon fiber body was created from a computer, it will be very aerodynamic and the handling will be there. Hopefully, the computer designs will give the car a human feel and not a laptop feel.

Powered by a GM V8 engine with 700-hp, this should be a fast car. No figures have been released, but with the $260,000 price tag, speeds should be either in the high 190's or low 200's. The company is looking at having the cars ready by summer of next year. If everything goes the way it should, the supercar companies of Europe may have some serious competition overseas that they weren't expecting.
