Car Review: 2014 Honda Odyssey
Ever since it was first created, the minivan has been the nerd of the car world. Now, Honda is trying to make the minivan seem cooler with the new Odyssey.
Performance wise, it's not the best. With a 3.5 liter V6, you only can get from 0-60 mph in around 7.3 seconds and a top speed of maybe 100 mph. Besides the slow speed, the brakes are not the best either. They do take a while to slow the car down, especially at high speeds. Don't bother doing hard and fast corners because it feels like you're going to tip over every time. At least you get a smooth and comfortable ride.
But then again, this isn't made for performance. This is made for families bringing children to school. You get room for eight passengers with plenty of room for everyone. There's also plenty of things to keep your passengers happy. These include DVD players that can show two different movies at the same time. There's also a storage box that will keep their beverages cool. If you need to bring lumber or lots of construction materials, the second and third row seats come out to offer enough space for 4'x8' sheets of plywood. Plus, if your passengers get messy, there's a built in vacuum that can vacuum anything and stretches all the way to the front seats.
So if you want something that will carry eight people and lots of stuff, this is the van for you. But if you want something that's fun to drive and isn't embarrassing to be seen in, it's probably best to get something else.
Special thanks to Peters Honda of Nashua for test vehicle.
